Take4D and EventRobotics partnered to create Robot Dance, an experimental short film to illustrate just what is possible with robotic motion.
The most commonly seen robotic motion is mechanical in nature and we wanted to illustrate the opposite.
Using pre-recorded footage as a starting point, the robots were animated to move in sympathy and with organic fluidity with the dancer, something that really pushes the technical and artistic creativity to the maximum.
Moving tonnes of metal as a performance character is one of Richard Widgery’s expertise (also see Kimberly Wyatte from the Pussy Cat Dolly dancing with a Robot for Nikon’s D810 camera press release). We did not want to make this easy, or similar to anything else seen to date.
Our experience in animation and machine control allows us to bring these robots together safely at high speed to less than 9 millimetres (not sure we wanted to go much close). We hope that you enjoy this film that illustrates our level or precision and artistic control that we wish to bring to your projects.
